Ribbon And Paper Mobile

DSC03063

Sorry I haven't posted in a while- I haven't been feeling very well. So to make it up to you I have this AWESOME/easy craft for you! Remember Caleb? Well he has a new little sister and we had a baby shower for her today! I made her this mobile. I made one before for my good friend Jessica when she had her baby Olivia. I'm not a big fan of drenching a poor child in pink and lace so this has become my token girl gift- I can give the mom something feminine without breaking any of my personal principles haha. Its ok- I know I'm weird.

What You Need
3 different, but coordinated scrapbook papers with a pattern on BOTH sides
A way to cut it ( I used a ruler and scissors)
Hot Glue Gun
Brads (for scrapbooking)
Ribbon
1 embroidery hoop
1 Large Needle (optional)

Cut your papers in the following ways:

Paper 1) 2in wide 12 in long (the whole paper)
Paper 2) 1.5 in wide 9 in long (just do one row, you will have extra paper)
Paper 3) 1 in wide 6 in long (only cut up half of the paper)

Take one strip of paper and poke a whole near the top, do the same with all the other strips in that size. Do this for the top AND bottom of each strip.

With your Brad poke through the whole you just created on one side. Take another brad and tie off an end of ribbon to it near the top (I also secured my knots with a dab of hot glue). Take one strip of paper at a time and poke it through the whole you made- creating a circle. Repeat for all three sizes.

{forgive my NASTY carpet haha}

Tie off each ribbon connected to a paper ball to the embroidery hoop. Also connect ribbon to the hoop and tie together to create your top to hang it. With remaining ribbon hot glue one end to the hoop and slowly wrap the hoop with the ribbon. Stop every few inches and hot glue the ribbon to the hoop again. repeat until the entire hoop is wrapped.

I also made a little tag with her name on it :)

Hopefully that made up for my absence ;) enjoy!

Javis Davis

(My Favorite For Girls)

I came across Javis Davis originally when I was taking my Home Decor sewing class in college. Its a Custom bedding company. I LOVE them! They have such cute and fresh designs and all different kinds of styles. The best part is that they also sell their fabric by the yard! Check it out!

I Make Hats!

SO I'm a little biased towards baby boys. I was a tomboy growing up and I baby sat two boys all the time when I was a teenager (they were like my kids). Sorry I would much prefer playing with trucks in the dirt then play dress up- so shoot me. And since most of my friends and family have been having baby's I keep hearing the same complaint- "its SO hard to find cute clothes for my boy!" This always get me all hot and bothered because I feel like baby boys get totally neglected in the fashion world just because they can't be covered in disgusting amounts of ribbon and beads and ruffles.

SO. I am on a one man mission to change that! My dream is to one day design a whole clothing line for just baby boys but for today I just make hats =)

I make those flat top skater style hats for babies. If you would like me to make a different type of hat I bet I could figure it out, just send me a picture.

Jack is a great model... optional button/tab on the side

A plan hat is $15
A hat with a tab on the side is $17
If you want a different color than this the price might be a little more because of fabric cost.

Jack Jack's Blessing

First of all I want to say how much I hate that Blogger's picture loader thing loads all of my pictures in the opposite order that I loaded them! Sorry my pictures are going to be in the wrong order this time cuz I really don't care today....

We did a quick (one day) trip to Utah for Jack's blessing 2 weeks ago.

The whole family (minus my brother Grant cuz hes in mexico)

My sister says Jack likes me a lot but I think she just says that to be nice. He did sleep well for me though!

The cute little family...

Baby Jack was exhausted from being the center of attention all day! This is also the best picture of his cute outfit my sister put together- She made the Bow tie!

Gotta LOVE the Chucks!

One eyed Jack! man this kid is cute!

And of course its not a complete Payzant party if you don't have lots of yummy food!

Being Creative with My Free Time

So one of the girls that I visit-teach for church is having a baby on August 17th. SO since I have all of this new found free time while I'm on summer vacation I thought I'd put it to work and make her something than just buy her something.  I found super easy directions to make these little one-ies so I thought I'd go for it.  We also went down to Utah this last weekend to visit my sister Lyndsey, who jut moved to Orem with her husband because he is starting his MBA program this august at BYU.  She recently got a sewing machine for her birthday so we tried it out on this project.  It didn't go so well and I ended up hand sewing most of them.

we made alot.... I figure I can just hold on to some for future gifts since I just found out THREE of my co-workers are SECRETLY prego!!! geez it kind of makes me feel out of the loop lol- but that DOESN'T mean I'M pregnant or am going to be anytime soon- just incase any of you were wondering.....
Thanks for all of your help seesta!!!
