Christmas series 2 of 5
One of my favorite memories of the holidays is homemade caramels! This recipe is my Grandmas.
Ingredients
1 c. sugar
4 c. white corn syrup
1 cube butter
1 can evaporated milk
In a large pan heat sugar, syrup and butter on high until soft ball stage, stirring often. Keep boiling and gradually add milk.
Keep stirring and boiling. Cook to firm ball stage (this takes a while). It will turn golden brown.
Pour into a large, buttered cookie sheet and cool until room temperature
